About Karen
I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t aware of my intuitive gifts. But it didn’t take me long as a kid to realize the other children weren’t seeing and hearing what I was, so I learned to keep quiet about it.
That quiet lasted a long time. It took me decades to step fully into this work.
Finding the path
In my twenties, I moved to San Francisco. That’s where I first began to understand what my gifts were actually for — helping people who were in transition or standing at a crossroads make Spirit-informed decisions about their next step. I also did some work helping people come to terms with paranormal activity in their homes and workplaces.
In 1989, I became actively involved in the Episcopal Church. Over the years I served as a lay catechist, a spiritual mentor for adults moving through transition and conversion, and a practitioner of the Church’s healing ministry — what some people call the laying on of hands.
In 1992, I enrolled at Church Divinity School of the Pacific (CDSP) in Berkeley, an Episcopal seminary. My years there gave me tremendously valuable tools in theology, counseling, and liturgy. But it also became clear that I wasn’t being called to ordained parish ministry.
I was being led somewhere more non-traditional — using my intuitive gifts to help others connect with the Divine and grow spiritually, outside the walls of the church.
A turning point
In 2007 I went through a physical health crisis that brought my intuitive gifts into much sharper relief. I realized I was being given a choice: continue a life of struggle and misalignment, or embrace what I’d been given and step fully onto the path Spirit had been showing me all along.
I made the commitment.
A professional commitment to helping people step out of the fog of confusion and reconnect with their own inner guidance.
The work since
In 2008, I launched a weekly podcast — Out of the Fog — from my San Francisco office overlooking the Bay. What started small grew into a show heard around the world, syndicated across Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon, iHeartRadio, and just about every other platform you can think of. Over the years, I’ve had the joy of sitting down with authors, coaches, shamans, psychologists, and teachers from all over the map — people like Theresa Reed, Mirabai Starr, Dr. Dan Tomasulo, Judy Wilkins-Smith, and so many others. Those conversations are some of the most meaningful work I do. (The podcast is currently on hiatus following my wife’s passing.)
In 2009, our family moved from San Francisco to southeastern Michigan after more than 22 years on the West Coast.
From 2013 onward, I began traveling to teach in-person classes and hold gallery readings across the US. I developed the Breathe, Love, Live healing method to help people gently release negative patterns and stuck energy through their heart center. I also teamed up with astrologer Dr. Michael Lennox to create gallery readings that combined astrology and intuitive insight.
From 2014 through 2019, I was teaching constantly — online and in person in San Francisco and Los Angeles — and my work with private clients expanded more than I ever expected. I’m still grateful for every heart connection that came out of those years.
COVID changed how I work. Since 2020, all of my offerings have been online.
Where I am now
These days my focus is on private sessions with people who are looking for intuitive guidance that empowers them to trust their own inner wise self. I now do more than 1,200 private sessions each year. I’m constantly building new classes and expanding what I offer, and I continue to travel and teach when I’m called to.
Off the clock
I have two beautiful sons and a rambunctious dog who is convinced she runs the household. When I’m not in the office, you’ll probably find me knitting, binge-watching Netflix, or deep in a jigsaw puzzle.
A note on faith
My personal spiritual practice is Anglican/Episcopalian, and I work from a Christ-centered space. But I believe we are all children of the same Divine Source — and I welcome anyone of any faith, or none at all.
